Jatayu: An old story told badly

Remember Aaj Ka Arjun in which Amitabh Bachchan, the humble servant of a landlord, turns against him when the landlord's son rapes his sister? Well, Raj-starrer Jatayu is virtually the same story with Raj playing the servant and Avinash the landlord.
It may be the modern version of an old tale, but apart from a few well choreographed action sequences, the film has nothing new to offer. The story and screenplay of Jatayu are the same as Aaj Ka Arjun except for the landlord's daughter being in love with Gajija (Raj); but Gajiga is interested in Belli (Surabhi).
Raj, apart from playing the role of the protagonist, has also directed the film. But he has a long way to go in terms of both. He has, however, put a lot of effort into the action sequences.
On the whole, Jatayu is a mediocre effort, with the performances by other artistes rarely rising above the ordinary. The camera work by Nandakumar is good and a couple of songs by Vinay Chandra are catchy. The action sequences featuring Thriller Manju and Mass Madha make for a good watch.
