Vinayan, one of those filmmakers in Malayalam who is always in the news - either as a director with his hands full of films or as someone at the helm of affairs in MACTA (Malayalam Cine Technicians Association). He has taken up the cause of filmmakers in Kerala. He is speaking vehemently in support of them.
After his last film Athishayan, which had much of computer graphics and special effects put in, Vinayan is all set to see his next film Black Cat released this month. The film, with Suresh Gopi in lead role, was finished much earlier but the release has somehow got delayed.
Now everything seems to be settled and the film will probably to hit the theatres before Onam, maybe by mid-August.
Vinayan, the maker of hit films like Kalyana Sougandhikam, Vaasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum, Oomapenninu Uriyaadapayyan, Karumadikuttan, Dadasaheb, etc, is brimming with confidence about his forthcoming Black Cat.
According to him, though the film is action oriented, it is not a mere action film. The film is not about commandoes as the title suggests.
The storyline goes like this: The protagonist of the film, played by Suresh Gopi, is called ‘Black’ by everyone around him. He is popular among kids and is kind of a mentally retarded guy and works as a henchman for the very powerful Tharakan. The story takes an unexpected turn when some stranger, who comes to the village, recognizes the protagonist with a different identity.
The director says the film is a high-voltage drama, with enough of action, and a little bit of suspense, sentiments, and humour. He assures you that it would be a different kind of Suresh Gopi film.
For him, working with the talented actor was a good experience. He is sure that the film would be a hit and would be liked by all sections. He is confident that the film has all ingredients to become a big hit.
