Alibhai, Mohanlal’s Onam release, tells the story of Akbar Ali, who is a leader of the head load workers and labourers of the Valiyangadi market in Kozhikode. He is the darling of everyone and lovingly called ‘Alibhai’ by all. In fact he had never ever though of being such a leader or someone who has to clench his fists every now and then to fight someone or the other. But circumstances take him to a point where he becomes ‘Alibhai’, who has his own sway over the Valiyangadi market.
Antony Perumbavoor produces Alibhai under the banner of Ashirwad Cinemas. Shaji Kailas, who has given many hits, directs the film.
There are many lives that revolve around Alibhai. Kingini, a young girl who does her studies under the patronage of Alibhai, Ganga, who is also protected and helped a lot by Alibhai, Chenthamara, a young flower-seller- all these and many other characters have their lives revolving Alibhai.
Alibhai’s story isn’t complete without speaking about the clash between him and his father. All this forms the plot of Alibhai, in which Navya Nair plays Chenthamara and Gopika plays Ganga. Cochin Haneefa is reportedly playing a very powerful character in the film, that of Market Kunji, who is sort of a guru and godfather to Alibhai. Master Ganapathy, the child artist who did an impressive performance in Vinodayathra, does a key role here.
Since the title character and some other characters too are drawn out of real life and since T.A.Shahid has already scripted hits including Raajamaanikyam, ardent fans of Mohanlal and also lovers of Shaji Kailas eagerly await Alibhai.
