Directed by debutante A.T.Annoor, Kaalchilambu narrates a story with Theyyam as the backdrop. The story takes place in a village where live members of the Peruvannan caste, those who perform the temple art of Theyyam. We meet Janmaari, who has been a chief of his clan, is a performer of Theyyam. He has always wanted to pass over his art as a legacy to his nephews- Raman and Kannan.
Though Kannan is much interested in Theyyam, Raman dislikes having anything to do with the art form. Janmaari teaches everything to Kannan, who eventually becomes a devoted performer of Theyyam. But things take a very unexpected turn when Kannan goes missing. And then, twenty-five years later a young man Jayadevan, who resembles Kannan, turns up in the village.
With the coming of this young man, whose name is Jayadevan, the story takes a new twist. Vineeth plays Kannan as well as Jayadevan while Samvritha Sunil does the female lead role. The film is intended to be a drama cum a musical and it is getting ready for release soon.
