Director Kamal, whom commercial success was eluding to a great extent for the past two years, now seems to be bent on trying his luck again with scenarist T.A.Razack, who had scripted Kamal’s last big hit, Raapakal, which had hit screens in 2005.
It should be remembered that the films after Raapakal, namely Pachakuthira, Karuththapakshikal and Goal, couldn’t make it big at the box office. Pachakuthira, scripted by T.A.Shahid (the younger brother of Razack and the writer of the Blockbuster Raajamanickam) and Goal, scripted by Kalavoor Ravikumar (who had scripted the hit Nammal for Kamal) had failed to make any kind of impact with the viewers.
Anyhow Karuththapakshikal (scripted by Kamal himself) had gone steady at the box office, though it didn’t become a big thing. And it is perhaps thus that Kamal comes back to T.A.Razack, who had earlier written for him the scripts of Raapakal (2005) and Perumazhakaalam (2004). And moreover Kamal perhaps wants to make films that would bring the family audience thronging to the theatres and for that no doubt Razack is the best choice, as he knows very well how to package sentiments to make it appealing to the family audience (Raapakal, Perumazhakaalam and the V.M.Vinu-directed Vesham stand testimony to this).
Kamal and Razack are planning to come up with a Mammootty-starrer and also a Dileep-starrer, both presumably family flicks. More details are awaited.
